Profile:

Mrs. Vernella Alleyne-Toppin currently holds the post of Minister in the Ministry of the People and Social Development. Mrs. Alleyne-Toppin is the holder of a Teacher’s Diploma, a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Creative Arts and a Masters of Arts degree in Museology/Ethnomusicology and Art History. She has lectured widely in both the University of the West Indies and the University of Auckland, New Zealand in a number of subject areas such as English, Multicultural Studies, Art History, Writing and Film Studies. Mrs. Alleyne-Toppin is also an author, scriptwriter, auteur and motivational speaker. Mrs. Alleyne-Toppin has taught Dance and Performing Arts in New York, and has also worked as a Communications Specialist at the Division of Tourism, Tobago House of Assembly. Most recently, Mrs. Alleyne-Toppin lectured at the University of Trinidad and Tobago in the areas of Music, Anthropology, Sociology and Social Studies.
